EDUCATION PROGRAMS
Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County offers community education and training for parents and caregivers, educators, child care professionals, faith communities, and corporate and civic groups. Through this initiative, the Center is raising the awareness throughout the community about the importance of preventing, recognizing, and reporting child abuse.
Education can help reduce opportunities for child abuse to occur in child-serving settings. We encourage open dialogue about abuse between caregivers and their children. Ultimately, our goal is to educate our community and help minimize the risk of child abuse and neglect before it happens.

Our Programs
THE KIDS COUNT PLAYERS
The Kids Count Players is a volunteer puppet troop and a project of the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County, created for children and dedicated to keeping them safe. These dynamic volunteers perform for kindergarten through second-grade students, educating them about personal safety, boundaries, private touches, and the difference between surprises and secrets. The program provides children with critical information to help them stay safe from abuse.
Duration: 30 minutes
Cost: $0
Audience: Children in kindergarten through second grade.
Since the program’s inception, The Kids Count Players have educated more than 100,000 elementary-aged children in our community.

RECOGNIZING & REPORTING ABUSE
This workshop teaches adults how to recognize the signs and symptoms of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect. Participants will learn facts about child abuse, how to recognize the physical and behavioral signs of the varying forms of abuse, as well as important details of how to report suspected abuse. We will discuss risk factors, effects of abuse, how to handle disclosures, and mandated reporting laws.
Certificates of completion are provided upon request. Qualifies for one hour of state of Texas mandated child abuse training for educators and licensed child care providers.

STEWARDS OF CHILDREN
Innovative, evidence-based child sexual abuse prevention curriculum, Stewards of Children focuses on adult training, as ultimately it is our responsibility to keep children safe. The material is presented in a way that is empowering and encouraging.
Duration: 2 hours
Cost: $10 per person for materials
Audience: All adults
The course meets State of Texas educator training requirements on sexual abuse prevention.

PARENTING THE DIGITAL GENERATION
This course informs parents on how to protect children as they navigate the digital world. The program covers the four biggest risks for children online and the conversations you need to be having with them. Recommendations will be given on how you may utilize technology to better protect your children.
Duration: 1 hour
Cost: $0
Audience: Parents and Legal Guardians.
It is recommended that children are not present for this training due to content and some of our included recommendations.
PROTECTIVE PARENTS PROGRAM
This workshop seeks to empower parents and caregivers in keeping their children better protected from abuse. This training will discuss the conversations you should be having with your children, questions you should be considering to make their environments safer, and common behaviors in offenders.
Duration: 1 hour
Cost: $0
Audience: Beneficial to anyone, but ideal for parents and legal guardians of elementary school-age students and younger.
